The Clinton Global Initiative was set up in 2005, by President Clinton to turn ideas into action and to help our world move beyond the current state of globalization to a more integrated global community of shared benefits, responsibilities, and values. By gathering world leaders from a variety of backgrounds, CGI creates a unique opportunity to channel the capacities of individuals and organizations to realize change. To fulfil the action-oriented mission of CGI, all members devise practical solutions to global issues through the development of specific and measurable Commitments to Action. The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women works globally to provide women entrepreneurs with access to business development support, networks, finance and technology. Women who are financially independent have greater control over their own and their children's lives. Economic security gives women a more influential voice in tackling injustice and discrimination in their own communities and in wider society.  By supporting women entrepreneurs, we build a brighter future not just for the women themselves, but for their families and communities too.
