Delta Partners Appoints Former NBA executive Chris Pantoya as a Non-Executive Partner

Press releases

Delta Partners Group, a global Telecoms, Media and Tech (TMT) advisory and investment boutique, has appointed Chris Pantoya as a non-executive Partner to help continue growing its new global Media, Sports and Entertainment Practice.

Ms Pantoya has more than two decades of experience in telecoms and media and joins Delta Partners from the National Basketball Association (NBA) where she was a Senior Vice President and Global Head of Mobile and Direct-to-Consumer.

During her time with the NBA, Ms Pantoya was responsible for developing, operating and growing the sports organization’s digital subscription business as well as establishing strategic partnerships with mobile carriers across the globe.

The Media, Sports and Entertainment practice is part of Delta Partners´ wider strategy to continue generating differentiated insights and unique propositions that define the future of the TMT industry. The appointment of Ms Pantoya strengthens the company’s positioning in the sports and entertainment vertical.

Delta Partners Media, Sports and Entertainment practice has been built to provide advisory services - like consulting and investment banking - to corporates in the industry at a time when all players across the value chain are reinventing their business models and distribution strategies. For example, areas of focus include content and media strategies for telcos, fan engagement and monetization strategies for sports franchises or rights deals and broader M&A activity in the industry.

“We’re thrilled that Chris joins Delta Partners to help develop our global Media, Sports and Entertainment practice. She has the relevant skills, industry experience and relationships to connect the world of sports and entertainment with mobile carriers globally,” said Victor Font, CEO and co-founder of Delta Partners.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Pantoya said: “The opportunity to join Delta Partners’ newly launched Practice was too good to pass up. My blend of real-life sports media experience and strong relationships with mobile carriers across the world will help support the growth of the firm’s media, sports and entertainment business and will help our clients thrive during this moment of digital disruption and opportunity.”

Delta Partners has aggressively grown its leadership team in the past year with notable industry executives joining the firm such as Roy Chestnutt, who was Chief Strategy Officer at Verizon, and veteran Asia-based investment bankers Sachin Gupta and Saikat Mukherjee. The company hired former Telefonica Media CEO, Jose del Valle, to lead its Media, Sports and Entertainment Practice.
