Smartpipe Secures $18.75m to Monetise Mobile Network Data Around the World
London, UK – November 29, 2016
Smartpipe has closed an $18.75 Series A million funding round to drive the continued expansion of its privacy-first mobile network data monetisation platform in key global markets.
The Series A round was led by Notion Capital and supported by Comba Telecom, Finance Wales, Delta Partners Venture Holdings SPC, Wren Capital and other strategic investors.
Smartpipe will use the funding to accelerate adoption of its patented technology across key international mobile markets in Europe, North America, MENA and APAC.
Its breakthrough platform enables mobile, fixed and WiFi network operators to monetise their subscriber data, without compromising privacy. Potential uses span security, identity, financial services and advertising.
The in-network solution delivers privacy compliant and real-time dynamic audience profiles to significantly improve advertising effectiveness and efficiency. The increased advertising performance is due to the high quality of the operator subscriber data compared to normal sources of targeting data.
Smartpipe technology helps network operators improve the quality of experience for their subscribers as well as providing ad verification to reduce ad fraud, a major problem for advertisers. Its secure approach enabled data partnerships between mobile operators and mobile analytics, financial services and other potential consumers of their data.
Commenting on the investment, Tobin Ireland, CEO and Co-founder of Smartpipe said: “We’re delighted that our expansion into new regions is being supported by our strong group of investors, who bring their strategic and financial expertise to the table.
“The power and value of accurate deterministic identity and behavioural profiles will make global mobile data a $50bn market opportunity. It’s more important than ever that mobile operators and the advertising ecosystem take a privacy-first approach to data monetisation, and work with technologies that keep data completely secure and privacy compliant. Following three years of development and validation, the Smartpipe platform protects privacy without compromise, making valuable first party subscriber data safely and securely accessible across open digital advertising ecosystems.”
Stephen Chandler, Managing Partner at Notion Capital, said: “We invest in high growth companies with big potential and global ambition, and in great products that will make businesses more successful.
“Smartpipe has an exceptional team and its platform will change the way telecoms operators and ad tech companies work together in the future, playing an important role in how data is exchanged and processed, unlocking incredible value.”
Smartpipe’s platform enables mobile network operators to monetise their customer data by making it – safely and securely — accessible for monetisation across open digital advertising ecosystems, at scale.
Built on proprietary patented technology, Smartpipe’s in-network, platform-as-a-service solution ensures that delivery of pseudonymised real-time dynamic customer segments that comply with local and global data protection regulatory requirements.
